Brenda's Bitter Brew is a satirical morning paper from St Helens. Every morning it picks real local stories and lets Brenda have her say about them.

What's real and what isn't

Real: the headlines, the short excerpts and the links. Each story names and links its source, and you should read the original for the facts. Weather figures come from Open-Meteo and warnings from the Met Office.

Not real: Brenda, her husband Jeff, next door's cat, the Jeff Watch, the adverts and every opinion on this site. Brenda's commentary is satire. It is written with the help of a computer model running on a home server, checked automatically against the source text, and looked over by the person who runs the site.

Brenda punches up, not down: she doesn't make jokes about victims, the bereaved, the ill or private people who happen to be in the news.
